This sounds like more Captain Atom being an old man yelling at clouds over these superheroes not being exactly the same as his superheroes than him lamenting the evils of this fucked up world.

Any world that has the Authority as "heroes" is pretty fucked up, though.

I enjoyed the contrast. The Majestic mini that took place in the DCU was pretty solid too.

Just avoid DC/Wildstorm DreamWar.

Depends on when with the Authority you're talking about. And... much of the bloodiness came from complete monsters coming out of the woodwork to fight them.

This did kinda fudge thing a bit to up the contrast- personally I dug the Majestic mini more, since it showed how Superman and Majestic were contrasted, but Clark personally didn't have a problem getting along with him. Harsher and colder but not bad (at that point at least).

The bit about the names and such made him sound like an old man, but his reaction on the first page is hilarious.

Its not. Yeah the shot about the name is kinda old man yelling at clouds but the rest of it. Its....its was a really good mini and the only time I have ever really cared about CA.

There is this amazing scene where Majestic comments CA must be one of the premier heroes on his world, and CA has to kinda own up to the fact on his earth he is considered C tier on a good day.

I actually really liked this series, the only trip up is that each issue spent a page recounting what happened in the previous issues.
