Saga, Chapter Forty-Six

When Pia Guerra and I started Y: The Last Man that was our impulse: Let’s make a comic book for people who don’t yet know that they love comics. I think for a lot of people it’s kind of an intimidating art form to get into. Even if you’ve been reading comics your whole life, you take it for granted sometimes. It’s hard to just open up this page of panels—you don’t know how to read it. With Y: The Last Man we were like, let’s think about it so that if you’ve only ever read Calvin and Hobbes in your daily paper growing up, you will be able to read this comic. And I think with Saga we tried to hone that even more. -- Brian K. Vaughan

I dunno Vaughan. I read this comic and wouldn't want to recommend this to a person who never read comics before... or really anyone who hasn't been head deep in the darker areas of the Interwebs... or who hasn't seen a lot of various fetish material.

Eh, most of my artsy friends would be left totally unfazed by the sexuality or weird visuals of Saga. You see strong stuff at any cult moviehouse or avant-garde art expo.

I wouldn't recommend Saga for a new reader only due to its sheer… dunno, comicbook-ness. I'd rather start with stuff like Maus or Fun Home or Giant Days etc., more relevant to real-life or everyday issues.

The full sequence with Petrichor and Prince was a great execution of hate-lust, a shame it couldn't fit here.
