This Sentry series here is pretty good, but it does feel more than a little derivative of Miracleman.

I'd say 50% Miracleman, 25% Triumph, and 25% Alan Moore's Supreme. Which isn't bad, mind - it's a well-done book.

Integrating such a meta character into the main MU, though, was going to be a hefty challenge for the best of writers, and Bendis... was not the right person to do that.

I loved this book and the concept of The Sentey so much. Bendis's mishanlding of the character is what really soured me towards him as a writter.

Now he gets to play/ruin with Superman and Batman.

I've always been disappointed with how The Sentry developed into an unsalvageable plot tumor. He had a neat gimmick with his worst enemy being essentially himself and I've always liked his costume design.

Maybe one day someone will be able to rescue him, but for now it's probably best to leave him....wherever he ended up. I lost track of what happened to him a while back.

I think Thor tore him in half, and he died, and was thrown into the sun and then he was brought back as an Horseman of Apocalypse in Uncanny Avengers and he's still... around somewhere? Or something? Frankly, I'm not holding my breath for his return.

Wikipedia says he was resurrected and has gone off into outer space. That was about three years ago, I can't see him coming back anytime soon, if at all.

"Gone off into space" is better than dead. It means that people don't feel the need to undo a dramatic moment, they need to actually come up with a story if they want them back.

That all happened before Secret Wars, so I'm hoping he doesn't make an appearance in the new continuity.

I really liked this series. It's a shame that Marvel didn't leave the character alone after it ended.
