Overwatch - Dragon slayer

 This time, we're looking at Overwatch's favorite grandpa knight and the biggest man in the entire game: Reinhardt



He's described by devs as a Don Quixote type character who holds onto fantasies of knights and dragons--but whose determination and honor make him a true hero. 

This also comes with a bonus cinematic that you can watch!

It starts with him and his "page" (mechanic, daughter of a playable character in Overwatch named Torbjorn) Brigitte traveling the country in search of supplies (and good currywurst) when they find a town plagued by gang violence


They encounter the gang








Despite being beaten down, Reinhardt is insistent he go after them in their hideout. Brigitte is against it at first, but eventually gives in.

He fights, envisioning dragons in place of men. 




He's able to defeat them all, taking down their entire operation and threatening to go after them again if they don't leave the town be. 



Rein is a sweet and wonderful lion of a character. His voice actor is also an endearingly energetic and enthusiastic old man, Darin de Paul. 

Reinhardt just got his own cinematic come out recently, it's fantastic and it'll make you weep with how sad and beautiful it is.

Reinhardt is one of the few characters I am fairly good with (Mainly because I play on a controller, so I can't aim for shit). Rein is fun because he's almost purely melee.

For the record, other Overwatch characters I am good with are Junkrat, Torbjorn, and Zenyatta.

Hm, this could be a game changer for me, so to speak, if I ever get a chance to try it.

Well its still first person, but its just that Reinhardt's main weapon is a hammer, so his default attack is a melee attack.

His other abilities are a large shield which protects him and anyone behind him (and he goes into third person mode when you use it), a charge which can catch a target and pin them against a wall (which is usually an instant kill except against other tanks) and a fire blast which is his only ranged attack. His ultimate is a ground pound which knocks anyone in front of him to the ground.

It's an FPS at its core but half the characters don't shoot anything (some have light beams, some swing hammers and build things) so it's very friendly to those new to video gaming or new to FPS.

Each character is very unique in the way you play them. You can pick who you like best and pick up others along the way.

They have free weekends sometimes but I can assure that it's a genuinely fun game as long as you have a stable connection :))

wow, calling Darin de Paul an "old man"... hah.. Ok, so he played D&D with the mother of the VA who plays McCree before Matt Mercer was even born, but the guy is got more energy and joy in him than most folks I've met.

Yeah, I was really surprised when I saw him on Critical Role, and it turns out Reinhardt is voiced by this sweet old bald man with coke rim glasses who looks like he lives inside a magical Norman Rockwell painting.

They actually did a comic for Zarya recently, it involved her going after Sombra with the help of a Snarky Omnic Hacker.

Years ago, I tried designing one that was meant to be Transformers-inspired, based as much on the Maximal style as Autobot or Decepticon (this is before the Predacons canonized such a thing).

This one is similar to my own, yet beats the pants off of it. I'm jealous.
