The thing about [Archie] is that it's often rolled with the times and reflected the world of today - sometimes more so than the more superhero-y comics coming out. And this story's got a lot to do with that - with the necessity of moving forward, of not getting stuck in amber. There's a pinch of classic Marvel in this story, and readers with an encyclopedic knowledge might find themselves guessing the twist a few pages before it hits, but if there's a message here, it's that - to quote a certain trickster I spent some time with - change is good. The new is good. That's as much what “Legacy”'s about as celebrating the old. -- Al Ewing

One, I like how this partially unstupids the way Reed tricked the original Skrulls with comic books. It's not that their eyes are bad, they just don't understand fiction.

Two, some anvils need to be dropped, and this manages to get its message across without being Superboy-Prime levels of obnoxious.

Three, I hope that the US and Occupy Avengers aren't just sidelines to the non-adjectivable and Uncanny Avengers teams during the crossover.

Four, I REALLY hope Ewing gets to keep an Avengers title when this crossover is all over.

There should be a story about these Skrulls watching "Galaxy Quest"...

I'm looking forward to No Surrender. By the end of it I think all three writers will relaunch Avengers titles, but they'll have much different line-ups.

I've been enjoying this team, I'll be disappointed to see it broken up.

It's also educational in showing how racism doesn't always come with pencil mustaches, swastikas, white hoods and jackboots.

Sometimes it simply sneaks in when people have gotten too comfortable in their comfort zones and react badly to the idea of changes - any changes. That's when you get "I'm not racist, but {poorly veiled racist comment}"

I love that "that's just not something [hero] would ever say" panel. LOVE IT! :D

The number of times I've seen commenters with noble characters in their avatars say bigoted stuff...
