Here's some of the choice scans of the Psycho Pirate story in the Justice League Adventures 12 (due to popular demand).

So PP's a psychiatrist who knows how to amplify people's emotions. And since trouble ensues whenever us humans get too angry, lusty, or whatever, the League is called in to keep peace. And, dickery, catfights, and wangst follow.

It starts with Bats belittling Flash:

And it's the battle of the chins!

There's the catfight! And the I-am-alone-alone-ALOOOONEEE J'onn monologue.

Get a room for the Bat and the...Wonder?

Yup, Bats wants more, Wondy.

Ah, the fic possibilities.

...shouldn't that have broken Bat's arm in that first page there?

Still, this was awesome. I liked that Diana was still thinking of peace while being mind-whammied. That was cool. Coulda done without the Bat/WW kiss, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

Also, I love love love the camping scene!

For some reason I'm curious about how Hawkgirl and Wonder Women (because I'm assuming they're sharing a tent) are going to fit in their tent with her wings.

Actually she'll probably be sharing it with John.

I like how Diana is embarrassed about the make out session but Bats doesn't look like he's done.

Oh, how I teehee-d when I saw Batman and Wonder Woman kissing. Terrible things happening around them and they are making out.

Oh, man, I'm going to have to start buying these comics.

Thanks for posting. Very much.

In my head this ends in a fic where Batman and Flash do it against a tree.

...Oh my, blushing Diana is adorable.

I would have liked to have seen that camping trip. Although I don't think Bruce would be very good at telling ghost stories--somehow I can't see him really getting the idea of doing that for fun. (As TVTropes pointed out to me, the only thing Bats really likes to do for fun is watch Sailor Moon)

Maybe that's why Wally dyed his hair in the last scan. And Bruce is wearing...poor people clothes? And Clark is...actually wearing his glasses "disguise" for some reason. Because it would be weird if Superman was caught camping with Hawkgirl and GL.

Wasn't this sort of done in the Justice League cartoon, in the "Secret Society" episode? Grodd uses his mind to bring out suppressed frustrations between the JL members, so they split but later come together again after bonding with training exercises or something. Camping sounds like more fun.

Why is J'onn totally fine with the giant campfire? I thought fire was basically kryptonite for Martians. Flash even mentions it three scans up.

No, no, it was GL's teamwork/trust exercises that brought out their inner bitchiness in the first place. Awesomely, the episode ended with their team tension technically unresolved. "All we can do is say we're sorry and move on..."

But yeah. Complete retread only with less subtlety.

Ahh, I think you're right, but I seem to remember someone at the end saying something like, "So everything's okay again, because it turns out we were all under Grodd's mind-control the whole time," and then someone else said something to the effect of, "No, he just brought out feelings that were already there," and then everyone wonders, "So what do we do now?" and then your quote is mentioned. Or I'm completely making this up in my head.

Bingo, you got it. Flash was the optimistic one; the others not so much: "A lot of things were said." "We meant every word." They're still pissed--when simpler shows would usually just shove issues like that under the rug, like Flash wants to-- but they're determined to make right.

[Grodd's first episode was kinda lame, but Secret Society made him awesome.]

Of course Flash would be the optimistic one. I find it funny that PP brings out tons of pent up drama in everyone except Flash, who just becomes slightly more sarcastic than usual.

I also appreciated how the animated episode went unresolved. Some other cartoons would have a group hug to make everything all better again, but it makes more sense that lost trust would take more time to rebuild.

(Even though Secret Society came first, I can't help but think of the Spongebob Movie, where Plankton uses mind control to enslave Bikini Bottom when I hear of Grodd's plan.)

Oh, re-reading my first comment I guess it sounds like I was saying Grodd didn't actually do anything and it was all the training; he was definitely juicing their brains, the fights just started *really* getting bad during the exercises, which did not help.

The Psycho-Pirate really ought to be brought back in some form or another. I mean, the whole 'Crisis' thing aside, he's got interesting powers, a really unique look, and is just generally pretty intriguing.
