Anecdotal evidence. It's no more authoritative than my citing Jim Thompson, a formerly pro-BND poster on the CBR boards who admitted that his own young son lost interest in Spider-Man as a direct result of OMD/BND (which, in turn, led to Thompson himself reversing his opinion on BND, and quitting both the title and the CBR boards until next year, when he's promised to try out the books again).

I can sorta see why kids would like it--because it's Spider-Man and at that age everything with Spider-Man is instantly badass. I liked Batman & Robin as a kid, not because it was a cinematic masterpiece, but because it has Batman and Batman kicks ass. It wasn't until I got a little older and a little wiser that I looked at it and noticed all the dumb shit in it.

It'll be interesting to see what his reaction will be when he gets older, looks deeper at the Spidey-lore, and realize that they basically had the hero Peter Parker sell his soul to the devil so that they could wipe away his marriage.

I -really- have to question...
Why even bother having an Adventures line...one that's supposed to be targeting the younger readers and be for them if they're just going to try and make the main line be for the 'younger readers'?

As much as I dislike OMD/BND, you also have to look at it from a business perspective.

Like it or not, there are people buying Marvel comics and generating money, regardless of how stupid the storylines/writers seem. And at the end of the day, that's what's important to Marvel: generating income. I wouldn't be surprised if in their eyes, they view us anti-BND fans as people who they can't make money off of.

If the kid's response is one of the many who don't mind OMD/BND, Red Hulk, the Ultimates storylines for example, then sadly, they will follow with what sells.

Yeah, but they're only buying them in the same numbers (well, slightly less actually, but recession and all) than they were before doing it. So, from a business perspective it doesn't really seem justified either.

well this kid seem to enjoy bnd, he also gave a great review on Hulk 600 which is one of the worst comics ever made. not to mention. he doesnt seem to mentioned aunt may jjjsr sex scene or others.
