Kinda wish the Challenger was a woman, since every other Elder of the Universe has been a man. The only exception is the recently introduced Promoter, but i'm not entirely sure she's canon.

Actually, there have been female elders of the universe before. The Judicator and Caregiver were both women. You also could count Carina the collector's daughter and his late wife who died from apathy since she was tired of living.

Yup. As soon as I saw this guy was referred to as the Challenger, I had my suspicions that he was an Elder of the Universe that we hadn't seen before. It makes sense. Why not have someone who likes to go up against the Grandmaster? Why not have an Elder whose all-encompassing passion is challenging people to... contests... and things... to prove who's the best...

...who isn't the Grandmaster, of course.
Or the Runner.
Or the Champion.

Couldn't they have just had a game to see who gets to be called "Grandmaster," without the "expel from reality" bit? As is, even the "winner" loses, since he'll be stuck playing against inferior opponents from then on.

Also, interesting that the "Challenger" was also outside reality, like Voyager. A connection?

Galactus has said on more than one occasion that being out in the void beyond reality is dangerous to even cosmic beings such as himself though. Quite an accomplishment that this guy survived however long it was between his exile and now.

It occurs to me that the Grandmaster he's pursuing vengeance against is technically a different person from the one who exiled him. This Grandmaster would have been recreated along with the all the physical realities of the 8th Multiverse.
