Maybe Namor and/or T'challa pulled some strings? Their representatives presumably would not have recognized "the mutant nation" on their own. So they must have known what Jean would ask.
My issue was more presenting Jean in this manner instead of slowly reintroducing her to the world. I just thought this scene would have worked so much better with Ororo or Kitty there. Instead we are just instantly shown her to the new big ambassador the UN. Also why would Namor or T'Challa give a damn about Jean.
I get why they're doing this, now that the new X-Men movie is coming out, but this feels like just basically rushing to show Jean as a really big thing. And while I don't really care that deeply of the character, I just don't think this kind of an approach usually works as it basically assumes from the get-go that everyone was just craving from some Jean instead of showing us why this is a character we and the world should care about.
No idea on T'challa. But Namor is a mutant himself, so he might have more than a passing interest in the mutant nation. Agree that wouldn't explain why Jean would go, as opposed to Kitty.
As for Ororo-- maybe her presence would complicate things for Wakanda? Not sure how she left things with T'challa.
I dunno folks. I'm not sure its worth my time getting X-Men: Red. I rather wait for X-Men: Yellow when the cool yellow rodent shows up and you get all the classic starters in one comic.
Okay, I know this is a super hero universe, where you can show up to congress in what amounts to a bathing suit, but would you really speak at the U.N. and have your shirt that unbuttoned?
Why is she "Jean Grey" and not "Jean Grey-Summers," which was her name when she died?
Come to think of it, I have no idea what Jean's marital status currently is. 1. She was married when she died, leaving Scott a widower. 2. Then Scott also died, which would make them a dead married couple. 3. Then Jean resurrected.
So she's... still married to Scott? A widow, even though she died before he did? Single? I don't think she can be divorced without a legal proceeding (which presumably requires that both she and Scott be alive at the time), but who the hell knows with comics.
