It took place on the part of Battleworld where an Inferno was raging.
It concerned Karen Page and Matt Murdock.
(It's got a " Nocenti and JRJR " dedication.)
She'd just watched him jump out into the fire against her wishes.
She followed him through the city.
She figured she was undetected because he was distracted.
" Just last week he started talking in his sleep. It wasn't creepy or anything, just different. He'd never done that before. It was funny at first, but then he said a name.
" Her name.
" Mary. "
She came to him and the other.
She saw Mary beckoning to Matt, tempting him.
She saw Matt bounce his billy club off her face.
" But I'm just as good a kisser, if that's what you're worried about. "
She didn't recognize the face.
He recognized the presence: " Mephisto! "
" The pleasure's all mine. I simply wanted to fool around on the eve of the final Inferno!
" It's petty of me, it's trivial, but what is the devil if not a little trivial? "
She picked up the blade Matt'd disarmed " Mary " of.
Mephisto burst out of his vessel's opened neck, laughing.
