There are a few ways I could see him coming back but I hope Marvel at least gives it a few years.

I doubt it, he'll be back in months. After all, Soule made a big deal out of Purple Man being one of the few people that remembers that Daredevil is Matt Murdock.

Plus it's been previously established that Purple Man has a healing factor and that how his first death was undone.

At best, Purple Man will just focus on Matt for the time being, while whichever writer comes next will introduce new antagonist for Jessica.

Well as Purple Man himself says, he can't be killed by other people but that's not the same as him willing it himself. Plus Carol literally throws his body into the sun afterwards.

I mean there are ways to bring him back; in this arc he's able to possess people so they could say that he transferred his mind elsewhere. Or he could have just made them think they saw him die, like when he made Jessica think Scott was killed by his ants.

But as far as endings go I think this was a pretty meaningful one as opposed to something like Frank blowing him away so that's why I would hope they let it last for a while as opposed to cheapening it by bringing him back right after Bendis leaves.

As for Soule, IDK what his plans are. I got the impression that he seemed less intent on setting Killgrave up as a future 'big bad' and more of a way using him as a deus ex machina to get Matt's secret identity back.

Throwing people into the sun hasn't exactly been permanent either though.

And i get what you mean, but Bendis himself has said that sorta thing(bringing back someone he killed off) doesn't bother him.

Maybe, but if that's the case, why have Killgrave remember Matt is Daredevil?

This is just a guess but I think Soule didn’t plan out Purple Man behind the mindwipe. There was an earlier issue where Elektra for some reason remembered having a kid that didn’t exist and Matt said that it was his fault and that it was related to whatever caused the mindwipe. So when it was revealed it was because of Killgrave they had him mention that — for whatever reason — Killgrave implanted the false memories. So it was just a way to wrap up a potential loose end. Just a theory.

I can see that. Still, i can't help but feel that this death won't stick. But like you said, maybe it will stick for awhile.

My apologies for being ignorant, but how did Purple Man get the ability to directly speak through people?

It’s vague, he just says he has new abilities.

Wait, the solicit was "The Purple Man has Luke Cage"? Did they just really change the story or what? Because it sounds like the next, last issue is a retrospective or something. The Luke Cage book just ended the same way -- "Surprise, happy ending!" So now I'm paranoid.

Idk about this specific instance but Bendis has said in the past that solicitations are written months ahead of time and sometimes the story ends up differing from them as a result.

That makes sense, especially if they had to end the Luke and Jessica stories quickly.

I am super-tired of people trying to get me to care about the interiority of the Purple Man.

Don't get your hopes up. He has died before and it never sticks.
