[identity profile] leikomgwtfbbq.insanejournal.com posting in [community profile] scans_daily

I saw this on scans_daily 1.0 a long time ago and it just game me such warm fuzzies of nostalgia, I had to save it, and I'm glad I did.

If I recall right, this was from Paradox Press' Big Book of the 70s.

What lured me into watching the first episode of Sesame Street was this (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/Sesame%20Street%20Superheroes.JPG) and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_A863kF8cs&feature=related). An early precursor of Spidey Super Stories if you will...

(A bit more info here (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2007/04/05/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-97/).)

It used to play in Quebec when i was little along with other educational shows.

Now i dont think it does...It should kids need these shows.I learned more watching them that i did in school.
Todays shows teach barely anything at all...

That's a shame. I live in Metro Detroit (so we get CBC) and really enjoyed watching both regular Sesame Street and the Canadian version.

Canadian version? "Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street, eh?"

When I was little I was confused by the fact that it was set on such a strange street with those big wide steps and huge buildings (I lived in a cul-de-sac in a village in Kent) but gosh did I enjoy that show.

Ah, Oscar, crabby brother of my heart.

I was also confounded by the "don't walk" road-crossing segment featuring a groom trying to reach his bride on the opposite path, actually. Curse you, cultural divide! Or should I say.. thanks Sesame Street, for making me interested in things I didn't understand?

I would make my mum call me Ernie and refer to her as Bert. :D

I get icky when people refer to the characters as 'Puppets' or 'Guys In Suits'. It's the same feeling as if someone told me that Elvis will play Batman in the next movie. There is a fundamental factual flaw in the statement that makes the entire thing ridiculous.

This is also why I loathe the guts of that bitchy middle-aged actress currently selling slimming yogurt on UK TV adverts - she said as much about Kermit and Miss Piggy on the radio, in the middle of the day when hundreds of kids would be listening. Vicious, vicious bitch. She deserves to be selling yogurt.

Who is this lady? "Selling slimming yoghurt" she could be about anyone. I want to be outraged at the right target!

Ughh. That's just not cool.

Ohhh yeah the GMTV lady I think. I saw her on that panel show where people tell embarrassing lies, she did not impress even without this added info.

One of the fun bits from the West Wing tv show was when the muppets were doing an episode in the White House and Big Bird sits down next to the shockingly tall female press secretary (who has often been teased by being called 'big bird'). No lines at all, just physical comedy as Big Bird fidgets, looks at her, and slowly the lady realizes who's sitting there, before stalking away with cold dignity. :)

Sesame Street is epic stuff. It's tied with 'Pee-Wee's Playhouse' as my favorite kid's show ever. (Also, 'Put Down the Ducky' is one of the most infectious tunes ever written.)
