The thread I’m working on with Luke is, “Yeah, a lot of people died for me.” If you look at interesting character development that would have happened between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, that’s certainly there. You don’t see much of it by the time you get to Empire, that stuff the characters must have faced and come to an answer — at least a temporary answer, anyway. -- Kieron Gillen

When I saw that cover, I was hoping this would be Luke and Wedge finally having a fun date night, but attempting to drown his sorrows in milk works too... I guess.

Given how bad the OT were about people processing tragedy (Homeworld goes boom and Leia still is more concerned with Lukes feelings having lost. some random old guy he'd barely spoken to until about two days previously (Not even dealing with the murder of the folks who raised him, but Ben Kenobi)) it's nice that the comics take the time to address it.

Plus I like them not dragging out an "Is it Bail? Could it be?" plot longer than two panels.

Yeah, but the Old Dude touched Luke in a very special way!

...not helping my case, am I?

Did they at least order the milk in a dirty glass?

Part of me wonders if the Shapeshifter is a Culture reference or whether I'm overthinking it.

I like Larroca's design sense. When he's designing original characters or spaceships he's at his best. He nails the Star Wars look while still making original designs. But the "let's make it look like you're watching the movie" widescreen aesthetic doesn't work as well here as it did in Vader. Maybe it's because Star Wars is an ensemble piece, so you have to show multiple characters and actions per panel forcing you to crop too much and kill the gesture/silhouette. There was a page of Luke killing an army of Stormtroopers that should've looked super dramatic but didn't work because you could hardly tell what Luke was doing.

And everybody already talked about the faces so I'm not belaboring that point.
