Yeah, you can imagine my feelings on this one.

I was thinking of posting this, and comparing it with how Warlock is being treated in the New Mutants mini to highlight why these two should not be kept apart.

And as I've said elsewhere, The only consolation, if this turns out not to be a fake out*, will be Wolverine having to explain what happened.

Kitty - Logan! So good to see you back! Say, where’d Doug? Daredevil said he was working with him, I thought he’d come home with you.

Logan - Yeah, about that… funny story, I sort of murdered him in cold blood in the process.

Kitty - …… (Very controlled voice) Did you now?

Followed by whatever sound the letterer decides that Kitty phasing Logan’s brain out of his skull (so it flops, disconnected, on the floor) makes.

Except, didn't his upgrade involve multiple applications of "language" not just Spoken?

Oh that's not an upgrade, that's been inherent in his powers from his inception.

To quote one of my favourite pieces of original art "Also know as Cypher, because of his parahuman ability to virtually instantly comprehend any language spoken or written, living or machine"

So it wouldn't limit anything except his ability to verbalise, and he'd be fluent in multiple sign languages within about a minute and a half. But since they keep repeating "speaks all the languages" think they will be going for "can't speak" as the outcome of the attack.

Of course, there's also the fact that he's still technically transmode positive since he was resurrected, he just hacked the virus to be dormant so it wouldn't be a risk to others, so he should be able to repair just about any damage he receives by using that, but it might leave him partly technorganic as a side effect, but I don't think that's going to be the outcome here.

Oh indeed, but hope springs eternal. (Though most of my hope evaporated when I saw how they were treating Doug's personality, and the rest went when they went for this painfully obvious plot development)

Well, they've tried giving him some odd upgrades recently, like reading cities, and being able to sense underlying rewrites of the spacetime continuum... and treating baking as a language.

Love Kid Dynamo Doug though I do, I still prefer his power being very limited, because that's sort of the point of Doug. He has the X-Gene, so would be targetted by Sentinels just as much as Storm, or Colossus, but has a pretty much entirely passive power.

As for upping his powers... well, I have my own idea about that one! ;)

Fortunately, it turns out Logan had actually slashed the throat of Doug Ramsay, who just happens to look and act similar to Doug Ramsey, while conveniently having the same powers.

Oh, the hilarious misunderstandings they've had.
