Joking aside, I see no reason to doubt this. The Jamie killed by the peanut butter cloud didn't have the tattoo either.

Spoilers:

Jaime Prime is supposedly very much dead, this guy explains he is a dupe who had been in a lab working for some time (which might explain no M tattoo) on a way to survive past a situation like Prime's death.

In any case, he is still ultimately a dupe and will eventually decay away but things get a little complicated with time travel.

After the New Mutants mini runs its course, I think I'm totally done with Matthew Rosenberg as a writer. His style just doesn't work for me... characters feel lifeless and like they're just going through the motions of the story, people often feel somewhat out of character, and the stories are haphazard and chaotic without a real sense of flow.

This issue just annoyed me, and I'm still holding out hope that the -real- Jamie Madrox is still alive and well with Layla somewhere.
