The common wisdom that Bruce Wayne is merely a daytime mask for Batman-- that Batman is Batman all of the time and only wears Wayne like a raincoat in order to serve Batman’s purpose--is reversed for Slade who is, in many ways, Batman's criminal counterpart. Slade Wilson really is Slade Wilson. “Deathstroke” is just a character he created to act more-or-less anonymously, although Deathstroke’s secret identity is hardly secret; it is, at best, selectively secret. -- Christopher J. Date: 2018-07-05 01:55 am (UTC)Sure, we can argue the morality of murder-for-hire and suicide in general, but on one hand, I can actually see a warped validity to the Human Dynamo's request. Batman only objects because he's trying to shutdown Deathstroke's operation for the duration. And when he, against Dynamo's wishes, wants to put him in suspended animation and try to cure him, isn't that also kind of bad by some standards?
See, I'd love it if the Heroes in Crisis series actually tackled issues like this, instead of "murder mystery involving heroes."
