Well, it can be a coincidence.

Actually, IIRC, Carol's anger over finding out Xavier and the X-Men were helping Rogue is why she went into space with the Starjammers for so long.

KSD said when she took over the title that most of Carol's stories involved her against herself, either internally or literally.

I'm pretty sure that Reed's other Carol is going to remain forgotten in a cell somewhere, which is a massive shame.
