Okay, so I get that people don't like Greg Land's art because it has familiar expressions and copies images off the web, but is there some other main reason people here and elsewhere don't like it? Just curious.

I really, really hate him using porn poses outside of porn. Female warriors don't pose like porn stars before, during, or after a battle. Would it hurt him to pick up a martial arts mag in with all the porn mags?

It just gets worse when he does it with teenagers.

Yeah....that really makes sense now. Thanks for clarifying. And also, his artwork got way worse in recent years, so hopefully he doesn't go back to drawing more X-Men.

There was a scene from the battle in San Francisco Bay that really encapsulated the whole thing. A shot from the rear of two female warriors, Rogue and another women, leaving for the big battle. Now we've all seen shots of male soldiers leaving for a battle. The focus is always -- always on the shoulders. But in this case, because they were women, the focus was on their asses. I was so angry I could spit.

His art is so horrifically stilted. Because he relies on poses for tracing he does a shitty job conveying real movement and life in his art.

If he'd just trace source photos that actually fit the action he'd be halfway there, but Hustler and Penthouse aren't that great at fight choreography.

There's little flow to it. Hairstyles and facial structure can change between panels (take a look at his Iron Man run). He has no real sense for staging.

Her right leg must be gigantic.
Her left leg does not exist below the knee
Her head is not connected to her neck and her right shoulder is somewhere unexpected.
Her right arm ends as it goes behind her hair

That huge belly window in Deathstrike's costume is ridiculous.

I.didn't hate the arc. I don't hate it. I like it. Its stupid. But Greg good GOD...

The actual writing of it wasn't bad. I certainly preferred Madelyne Pryor's presentation as a villain here to the one she's had lately as some sort of kiddie anime Satana in that young original 5 X-Men book.

What if I told you... there are straight men in the world and that some of us actually like the art that guys like Land and Cho do because we have an appreciation for the female form? Just sayin ;)

What if I told you... there are these things called pinup calendars where Land and Cho can draw all the livelong day, and people generally open up comic books expecting to see art that actually strings a story together?

George Perez and John Byrne are no less lecherous than Land and Cho are (please don't ask me how I know this but I'm pretty sure George Perez has straight-up commissioned superheroine porn parodies), but they don't get a fraction of the heat, because they know how to make the pretty ladies flow with the story instead of pausing it.

Cho for his all his *ahem* quirks and focus on certain parts of the female form can at least make his girls appear to have movement and flow. There is a difference between Cho's pin up pieces and his sequential art, at minimum Cho art doesn't LOOK traced and doesn't feel static.

This? Every woman in these scans is stiff as a board, rigid, every panel is a pose, there is no action every panel is like somebody yelled "HOLD IT" *shutter click* this isn't a comic it's a photo shoot.
