In Issue #5, Carol's mum reveals that she actually created that baby out of clay from the planet Carypton, then doused the clay figure in a rack of miscellaneous chemicals that were struck by lightning just as a gamma-irradiated spider blew into the window, bit the statue, then exploded in a shower of weird cosmic rays.

But wait, there's more! In issue six Carol discovers that everything she knew about her past-including the infodump her Mom dropped on her-was (gasp!) a lie! It turns out Carol's Dad was a mutant and she's a mutant too, which means Carol can be both an Avenger and an X-Man, widening her comic appearances right before the movie comes out! Her mutant power is the ability to sustain multiple reboots regardless of poor comic sales.

But not even that! She's an Inhuman! And she was raised as a child by an evolved cow! And then she was kidnapped by a secret government organization who infused her bones with Marvelium!

And then, finally, after a few iterations of this, her "actual origin" will be revealed.
