Also nice to get a confirmation as to why Marvel's retconning Carol's backstory all of a sudden...

Agreed. I find myself looking forward to the day when Monica Rambeau becomes the new Captain Marvel some 10-12 years hence.

I did like Ego in the film and J'son was never all that interesting.

Her being part Kree has been canon since she first got powers, what's changed is how she got them and why.

I don't see how the movie is the cause of her change in origin, unless your point is that they were taking a shot in the dark and chose the stupidest option.

In fact, it's probably less stupid.

It's stupider from a character point, not a real life point.

For instance, we're told that Carol's fascination from space is because of her heritage, because as we all know, every human who has ever been interested in space is part alien.

That's faulty logic - nobody was saying that every human's interest in space comes from genetics, her mother was saying that specifically Carol's interest in space came from her Kree heritage, because, presumably, Kree genetics work differently than human's. Also, I'm pretty sure her mother was being poetic -- you know, like when people say "He has his father's eyes" they don't mean that literally.

You're missing the point. One of the major appeals of Carol as a character is that she became who she is through personal choice. Now it's just her genetic destiny, as her mom was literally just like her only from space.

Also, it's pretty clear it's not just poetry. Her dad literally started abusing her because he saw the signs too and was frightened by it.

And in the film she becomes half Kree because they experimented on her. It's not that different.

I think that's due to the ripped-in-two dogtags - you see half in SHIELD's possession that says "CAROL DAN" - that could mean she had the "VERS" part on her when the Kree did...whatever they're going to do in the movie.

I'm loving the narrative structure implied by the trailer.

(Given the deftness of the construction, maybe the plot'll justify the vagueness about Jude Law's character, too - there's got to be some reason that detail revealed by Funko Pop leak wasn't just said upfront.)

Although am a bit annoyed it's starting to look like just being an Oscar winner doesn't mean you're right for a comic book heroine, Larson just doesn't seem to capture Carol as I hoped.

I'm wondering if Carol's new "Kree blood" origin will change things for "Agents of SHIELD." Of course the MCU movies have an "Agents of SHIELD? What's that?"attitude.

They tend to ignore the tv shows in general, to the point i wish the tv shows had a separate continuity.

The TV shows didn't have a separate continuity at all. It's all the same continuity, there is nothing that contradicts anything.

Its the shame that the other Captain Marvel can't get his own film. I wouldn't mind so much but they decided to make the film about his mentor instead.

Because that's the only reason that you'd call a film Shazam.

Or they called it "Shazam!" because they legally couldn't call it "Captain Marvel" since Marvel owns the trademark to the name and has since the 1960s.
