I get the feeling Alan Moore doesn't think much of Harry Potter. (Yes, I've read League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... I KNOW he doesn't think much of Harry Potter!)
Maybe it's because it's more of a riff on the trope the Dumbledore/Harry Potter relationship falls into (see also Gandalf/Frodo) than anything specific in regards to Harry Potter.
LoEG, for better and for worse, is sort of a grand thesis statement on fantastic fiction, which makes it hard to enjoy when you don't agree with the thesis. Smax is less ambitious in that sense, and more open to interpretation: I can like some of the stuff it's poking at and still laugh.
If I'm being honest, I would find the Cock Wand hilarious in a context that actually cared about the thing it was deconstructing as opposed to one that's just going "Damn kids and their damn rubbish books. Back in my day, we had good books like Dracula or King Solomon's Mines or The Adventures of Two Dutch Dolls and a Golliwogg."

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
