Okay, if this sounds condescending, I'm really sorry, but I feel like we must not be on the same page here and I'd like to get us there.
Look at the last panel. Note that the trailer is completely overturned and slightly crushed, and some shards of glass have not yet descended. That's a direct result of Rexa unleashing her full "ferocity" as she leaps at Jeff. Only a few seconds have passed between the last two panels, and that's not enough time for anything to get in, much less for anyone to get off. Rexa's crying because she's upset, or Jeff wouldn't be discouraging her from doing so.
I don't think Alan means to wreck the happy tone of the rest of this sequence altogether. A bad try doesn't mean they're doomed, just that the road ahead of them will have its bumps.
I don't think she's physically hurt, just upset that their first bout of lovemaking in a long, long time ended so quickly with her breaking their new home. Jeff's probable eye-rolling and frustrated tone wouldn't help. They've both got a steep learning curve ahead.
The best part? Robyn's plan basically amount to: Use Cold Iron to defeat the mystical creature (there is a common theme in european folklore of mystical creatures being weak to Cold Iron, mainly fae.)
It's been so long since I've read this, and so long since Moore has been anything but terminally bitter about comics, that I've forgotten how much fun he had and could be when he was just playing around with tropes.
