Okay... I could take the "Stan Lee" as a friendly (if incredibly tone-deafed) jab at him (Stan "The man(who refused to hire editorial cartoonists)" Lee)... if not... 90% of the comic...
But boy is his "Disney" comic hilarious by how wrong it's prediction was.
Edited it (because I did not like how I phrased the Stan Lee one) and changed it to Disney to xD. But all his comics bashing marvel are hilarious in hindsight
These come from The Onion, a well known satirical website. With this in mind I have to assume that this Stan Kelly guy is being satirical with these cartoons. I hope to God he is anyway.
In some ways, "Kelly" is actually less ridiculous than Ben Garrison. Kelly gave Trump a muffin top, whereas Garrison uses a fat helping of artistic license.
Well, that one in particular is so over the top silly... I mean check out the background gags: a burning American flag on the college building, a naked Lady Liberty poised on a tree branch. I could see an actual right-wing periodical rejecting the cartoon on the basis of the second gag. Yep, it's parody. Not an especially clever parody, but still.
I'm not American, so I think our tropes are a bit different! Unfortunately, we do have conservative cartoonists here too, and the excessive labelling of everything just in case we don't get every little nuance really makes it look like a real conservative cartoon.
Most of Kelly's comics are about some type of deep-seeded grudge or resentment. He drinks too much, his family doesn't talk to him anymore, he REALLY likes old Archie comics, he's not doing so hot at the old editorial game but it is NOT his fault.
It has more self-knowledge than an actual right wing cartoon. Note how in both the idyllic, uh, 1960s and today the same man is making passes at a student, except that today they've aged several decades and this has perhaps altered their perception of reality.
Sadly while I can't draw, don't understand history or government that well, and have only a vague understanding of current event, I fear I have to much knowledge of popular culture to be a political cartoonist.
