The X-franchise is awash in under utilized characters. Why did we ever need the original 5 back like this?

As a short term comparison, highlighting how far the characters had come in both good and bad ways, it would have been fine.

As a long term plot, despite some decent stories along the way, it seemed... flimsy.

This was one from a Slightly Different reality, who hung around with the 05 kids and had a Thing with Cyclops.

Which is a bit unfortunate, because Mutant-X only had two good ideas: Vampire Storm and the Goblyn Force.

They do care, they just couldn't get to Ahab and the other Hounds in time before he escaped. Without his ship, though, he's stuck in this time, and they believe they'll be able to find him.

I guess my real problem is that this is the third time we've had "Rachel becomes a Hound again" this year alone. Considering all the character development she's had, it feels like writers want her to go backwards instead of forwards.

Didn't young Angel get a physical upgrade to his wings so they were basically on fire? How is that going to work in the past?

I think that young Cable had those wings surgically removed and then implanted the wings that Mimic had into young Angel.

I really, really don't like what happened to Bobby. I mean... he got literally thrown back into the closet and into believing he can be straight? Isn't that a bit... conversion-therapy like?

If I were charitable, I'd argue that "call me if you need me!" is an indication that it's still there, under the surface.

But I'm not.

The Adult O5 got all the memories the Young O5 made in the present after they went home and Young Jean closed the loop. She suppressed the memories until time caught up with them.

So adult Bobby remembers being young Bobby and being out at 16

That doesn't make things better for young Bobby. He still was forced back into the closet and had to suffer years for it.

The moment the loop was closed, all the adult X-Men got their memories of their time in the future back, so he's still out of the closet.

Old Bobby is. Young Bobby still has to suffer through years of denial and convincing himself he's straight because the same person who dragged him out of the closet now pushed him back into it.

I understand the narrative reason for it, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth especially as the fact that Old Scott is now alive mean that continuity wasn't that big of a deal, really.

But less so, when you realize that young Bobby coming to terms with his sexuality motivated old Bobby to come to terms with his.

Young Bobby is still just as gay, he is just (sadly) back to being ashamed. Old Bobby is still out.

So Jean has repressed everyone's memories until they're old enough to handle the truth. This means that Cyclops will gain his memory of knowing that his future self will die - so he'll have some sort of contingency set up when he comes to this realisation, and that's how he survives. He's just been hiding out at Cable's place waiting for that loop to close itself so he can pop back in.

you know, just before I read these scans I read the scans of High Heaven...
When I finished High Heaven I was thinking "my god, I can't remember the last time I was so insulted by something put on paper. surely NOTHING can top this..."

I was wrong.
High Heaven at least has the excuse (?) of being small press. Marvel is a giant in the field. They really should know better.

I mean, just because your target market is 10 year olds, doesn't mean you have to treat them like they are ...

His death was stupid. His becoming the villain was stupid.

His return is also stupid, but which is the greater sin: disposing of a good character in a stupid way for stupid reasons, or bringing back said character in a stupid way so that you can use him again?

I get aggravated when new author's don't respect continuity, but I like it less when they try to make their mark on a comic by being "the guy who killed (X)"

Honestly, the only thing I'll miss about this is that Cyclops is now no longer in the Champions (although I have finished reading the back issues I got from Comixology, so maybe he was already gone anyways).

It is frankly weird they kept this running for so long. I'm really curious how they're going to deal with Cyclops being back post IvX, not because they can't solve that problem, but rather the issues with Emma and Jean that really will need to be explained (why would Scott do that to Emma, why didn't either of them sense he was alive, etc.).
