Ahh, the quote means Slott couldn't wait to make Doom a typical villain with no sign of character progression. :V

Doom is still in a bitter feud with Reed, he's regained leadership over Latveria, and it seems like he's becoming a threat to the Fantastic Four again. Hell, the team even says that he's not turned over a new leaf in this issue. Galactus too is also back to his old tricks if he's going after Earth.

The Infamous storyline ended with Doom getting his face blasted off and retreating back to Latveria. Slott's run picked up with that with Doom being in funk over what happened and being encouraged by Victorious to reclaim Latveria from a dictatorship and become a hero to its people. Bendis already brought him back to the status quo but Slott isn't ignoring anything.

Seriously, Reed, how many times do you keep thinking "Doom's done something wrong" and failed to realize it's all his plan? You'd think he'd have learned by now....

Well, for every one of those, there's one where he actually did do something wrong. I mean, that's how he loses each time.

And for almost every time he claims it was all part of his plan, I'm usually pretty certain his plan was nonsense and he's just talking bullshit.

It's a villain thing, Jay and Miles even make note of every time Apocalypse does the "You think you've beaten me, but my REAL plan has been aided by your intervention! BWAH-HA-HA-HA!" routine... it's a LONG list, to the point that you suspect it's probably just a reflex by now.

Seems everyone wants to be David Xanatos these days... without understanding that the real reason Xanatos worked so well was because half his plans were about damage control rather than pursuing a single, clear-cut end.

Was there any explanation for why Galactus would choose Earth to eat once he was returned to his world-devouring default? It's still where the people who are the closest things he has to friends live...
