In fact, I really like the way Guy talked about Ted here.

Every single member of Jaime's supporting cast is awesome.

There is just so much about this to like.
Except Guy starting a fight by being a pig.
But apart from that, so much to like.

Though Ted trying to get him to read improving literature is right up at the top.

On the other hand, I like that the buttslap is portrayed as genuinely offensive and not just played for laughs.

Exactly. I mean, this is Guy Gardner.

He's got a lot of admirable qualities, and he certainly gets to shine, but he also has several bad ones - like being something of a pig.

Pretending he doesn't have them would have been bad writing. Demonstrating them and downplaying it as "just a Guy thing" with no consequences would've been problematic writing.

But the way it's being framed here it's clear that 1) this is jackass behaviour that will get you into trouble and 2) Jaime's fairly clearly aware of it and won't be following that example.

Bianca Reyes is right up there with Ma Kent and May Parker in the "most awesome moms in comics" club.

I love how everyone who encounters her immediately understands why Jaime's such a good kid.

Neat timing - I just got back into The Brave and the Bold. Believe it or not, I think I like this version of Jaime's first encounter with the GL Corps better.
