#2'd ended on one of them hearing the other.
That one, Vess of the Siblings of Severity, was conflicted.
The words of the Siblings' Mother Proxima stung her.

" It showed me I was not alone. "
Out in space, the other main character - Captain Grix of the cargo ship Sundog - was wondering who was responding to a distress call she didn't remember sending.

(That's Grix's younger brother.)

Grix left in the pod to Duni, where Vess was in conflict with her beliefs.
She received a response to her response, a promise of shelter in exchange for data corroborating that there was something monetary going on between the Siblings and the corporation Lux.
" .. oh shit. "
" Is something wrong, Vess? "
" Mother Proxima!
" I.. was just organizing a few files. "

That night, Vess snuck out to meet Grix.

Light came on overhead.

They ran, pursued by the Siblings' monastery.

(If you're wondering what exactly's in the last panel, Grix pushed a button she had on her.)

(Pagecount's 7 and a bit under 1/3rd of 22.
Writing's G. Willow Wilson, art's Christian Ward, and letters're Sal Cipriano.
This is published by Dark Horse, under Karen Berger's " Berger Books " imprint.)
