Sakura Wars Chapter 9 -After the Turmoil-

Everyone aside from Sumire tries to cheer Sakura up, but she still feels bummed out. Oogami and Sakura both indepdently attempt to work on the stage over night.



Oogami literally translates as "big god," Sakura asks if Oogami will stay there a bit longer and then excuses herself. And then this happens (I love using cutscenes to avoid page limits!)

Yes that's right Kayama, women are so damn fickle... like reacting to an apology after their feelings are hurt, or being pleased that the work they did for someone is appreciated. What strange creatures!!! Who can fathom their workings? Okay I'm done now.

I mean, I would expect them to push for Sakura given the name of the show...

Technically the Sakura in the title does not refer to the character Sakura (technically). As the former is in Katakana, and the later in hiragana. I mean there was no Sakura in Sakura Wars V... but Shin Sakura Taisen is back to having a new Sakura as the main girl.


Some fun imagery... every member of the Flower division has a flower name but Sakura, and Sumire's are especially meaningful. The sumire, or violet, is the flower of the Takarazuka Kagekidan with it's proud hundred year history, and status as a cultural icon.

The cherry blossom, or sakura, is the flower of the OSK a plucky up and coming compettitor that Ouji Hiroi's aunt was a founding member of. It went through several incarnations but still exists, and right now they're actually adapting some of Sakura Wars' fictional plays and Sakura's actress is working with them.
