Deliberately or not, this reminded me of HULK: FUTURE IMPERFECT.

Elderly Rick Jones tells the Hulk that after the good guys protected humanity from the bad guys, humanity blew itself up "without help from anyone in armor or funny long-johns. Go figure."

Of course, this is humanity turning on the superheroes. ("Again?" "Yes, again! Shut up!") I hope it doesn't turn out to be Tall Poppy Syndrome. That really bugs me.

Soooo...Lex Luthor says "go out and kill whoever and save yourselves" and hundreds of millions follow his advice?

As "end of the DC Universe" stories go, that's not quite the best premise.

It makes more sense if you're reading Snyder's Justice League too, it ties in heavily with what he's doing there.

Batman created a machine to clone himself, so there'd be more Batmans to carry on his legacy? I thought he had more faith in his Robins than THAT.

This plot line keeps popping up the last few years. Some of the future's end issues had Bruce after perfected cadmus tech to do this very thing.

Alfred argued that he should have more faith in those he taught after he failed to get it.

It's one of the weirder elements of Snyder's take on Batman for sure. He's talked about the thinking behind it, that Bruce Wayne views being Batman as a burden and doesn't want to put it on anyone else, but he also sees it as important that Batman be a mortal, flesh and blood human being, rather than turning himself into an everlasting cyborg or something like that. I can see the logic behind it, but it's always seemed to me like a plot point that's just waiting for someone to write a story about Bruce being shown why that logic is wrong, given the importance which placed on his various proteges.

Lex Luthor convinced everyone to burn the world down, so they did, and everything was miserable and crappy forever. Seen it a million times before.

Once again, a genuine point - that the world is falling apart and people with the power are doing nothing to stop it because to do so wouldn't be fit their rigid morality - is butchered by adding on "so let's all be evil mindless Raiders from Fallout".

Don't raise the issue of heroes not touching otherwise real world problems if you're not going to do anything with it beyond toss it aside offhand.
