So got caught up on about 30 chapters of Kaguya-sama, and am liking some new developments.

We'll start with the first time Chika and Hayasaka were inolved in an event that was mistaken for queer. With her "impeccable crossdressing," Hayasaka met with student council president Miyuki Shirogane, and Chika (so that Chika would not find out that she was Kaguya's maid instead making her believe that Kaguya had a butler, for reasons).

Much much later a different situation between Chika and Ai arises, this time with Ai in her carefree schoolgirl mode.

She's talking about Kaguya who just had her second kiss on Christmas eve.

In a later chapter but in an event that might be earlier (as it goes through the Christmases of different characters)

And much earlier "yuri bait" art of Ai.

Hah... "yuri bait" doesn't even begin to describe that last page... Silver and Bronze-Age superhero comic covers were less misleading about the actual content within. XD

I'll have to delve back into the series then. I watched the first episode and had the ending song of episode 2 on repeat for a week or so, but then never picked it up again.

I hope that the bulk of the story is not bogged down by useless drama though.

To be honest, I kind of miss the kind of early mind games. Don’t get me wrong, the book’s still great and overusing them would probably get tiring pretty quickly, but they were hilarious and oddly compelling to read.

I mean, a lot of the story is technically useless drama, but that’s mainly played for laughs as the characters are making things more complicated and convoluted than they need to be for the sake of their mind games.

...which makes the actual drama that occasionally pops up hit a lot harder.

useless drama is what this series excels at. although usually it is done in an way that is so over the top it becomes comedy.

or as the female lead would put it (in the male lead's head), "Useless drama? How cute."

I still think Kashiwagi is one of the funniest characters.

Latest (?) chapter had a bit where it showed what everyone was doing on their holidays and for Kashiwagi it was just censor pixels.
