As much as I enjoy Riverdale for its intentionally cheesy, over-the-top drama, I sometimes wish neither the CW nor anyone else had picked it up, because it effectively killed Afterlife with Archie, the best damn title Archie Comics ever released. (Yes, the publisher insists the title isn't cancelled and is just "on hiatus," but come on, it's been three years since this issue came out.)

Apropos of nothing, here's a reminder that catgirl vampire novels (well, novel) predate Dracula. Also, 'Manson was framed' is an odd swerve for the story to take.

And Chilling Adventures of Sabrina... which is odd since you would think they would want to keep it on to capitalize on the netflix show...

What's odd about this is that I had always assumed this series had ended with Sabrina marrying Cthulhu.
I had no idea it had gone beyond 6 issues.

Isn't Aguirre-sacasa in charge of the Sabrina series as well? Perhaps it was simply a case of too many irons in the fire, and having to prioritize the projects that involved more money.

It's always seemed especially weird to me given that Afterlife put Archie on the map and got it talked about in a way it never had been before. Maybe Riverdale was already in development or whould have happened either way, but I can't help thinking that Afterlife making Archie cool for the first time ever might have been an influence on the development of Riverdale.

Which of course makes its languishing so much weirder. Then there's the fact that some of the weird Archie stuff is still going. Werewolf Jughead had a crossover with Vampire Veronica last month(!) The Satanic Blossom Twins series only ended in July, and Archie vs Predator 2 came out in July as well. Yet Afterlife and Chilling Adventures, which set off the whole Weird Archie trend, have both lay fallow for years now.

I don't think it was saying Manson was innocent overall. Just that he didn't do those particular murders.

Well, maybe. But she does say "All Charlie wanted was to make records."

Well, that is essentially true: Manson really did want to make records. That he used his cult control over the girls to use them as sex-slaves with people who's favor he was trying to curry (like one of the Beach Boys, whose mansion he crashed at prior to the murders) doesn't change that one of his goals was as a failed artist. That he also thought he could start a race war and then hide out in a mythical underground city in the desert was a secondary goal.

Also, he was crazy pants.
