So what do Diana of Themiscira, Daken, Betsy Braddock, John Constantine, Harper Row, Aja Leith and Grace Choi all have in common?
They are all canon bisexuals, belonging to that set of people are lucky enough to have a wider range of partners than most of the rest of us, but who have a deal of trouble being seen as an orientation in their own right (Since it's easier for some to categorise them as gay or straight depending on who they are invovled with at any given moment).
23rd Septemeber is recognised as Bi Visibility Day and it seemed rude to not acknowledge that.
There don't seem to be as many male bi characters in mainsteam comics around (at least trawling through my memory and the odd wiki), so I thought I'd feature the introduction of one, well introduction as bi, he'd been around for ages by then,
For someone named Prodigy, it took him a while, but he got there in the end!
David Alleyne is a former mutant, who was one of the first students to join Xaviers School after it went public, even serving on the training squad dubbed "The New Mutants" and was in a sporadic dating relationship with Norika Ashida, his team mate also known by her codename Surge
His power was the somewhat passive, but terribly useful, gift of psychomimesis; he could temporarily acquire knowledge and skills from anyone he was in close proximity to.
Though he lost his powers in M-day, the Stepford Cuckoos' allowed him to access all the knowledge he had acquired up until the point his powers vanished, which he thought he'd just forgotten or lost. This makes him very very very intelligent, and also has things like Wolverine's combat training, Cyclops tactical skills, Beasts genius at science, and so on...
He also has the infinitely more rare ability of common sense, as in his tendency to wear bulletproof padding on missions, to the surprise of his team-mates.

Ouch!
But that's not really relevant to our discussion tonight.
After various team groupings, reorganisations and the like, David gave up the hero-ing gig, using his abilities to serve as a hot-line staffed by superbeings, for what might be described as exotic situation tech support and information.
During this time he met Tommy "Speed" Shepherd of the Young Avengers and ended up joining the team on one of their weirder jaumts through the multiverse
During this, he ends up stranded in a parasite dimension with Hulkling, being pursued by monsters through a space where the comic book boxes don't quite conform to our dimensions...
Young Avengers #8

This was... unexpected to say the least, and indeed it WAS continued in Young Avengers #9

Suffice to say that Teddy had a subplot going on at the time confusing his own feelings, which is natural enough when your boyfirend is a realty warper.
I like that Gillen immediately address the way this could easily have been dismissed as "just" being a passing side-effect of David's powers giving him intimate awareness of multiple sexualities and genders, and him actively saying "No, not really, but it certinaly HELPED me see things clearly clearly enough to know I'm bi!"
So a shout-out to everyone out there who identifies as bisexual, or thinks they might but aren't sure yet.
