The story is internally inconsistent to the point of becoming painful to read. I honestly prefer Tom King's Batman to this AU.

A final redemption for the Joker feels weird when Snyder's stuff has positioned him as a nigh-unstoppable villain.

Also not quite sure about the killing of Omega/Original!Batman. It's weird for this heroic, unblemished new Batman to start his whole deal off by murdering a man, y'know?

This is all so utterly singular to Snyder and Capullo's take on Batman that it's hard for me to get upset about stuff that doesn't quite fit for me, and it's really cool to see them get to have a big, crazy conclusion like this on their own terms.

It sort of reminds me of the original draft for the first game in the Mega Man Zero series wherein Zero would kill the real Mega Man X rather than a copy. Building your fresh new beginning off of murdering the old hero doesn't seem like a good way to get people to accept the new status quo.

Or replacing Hal Jordan with Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern by having Hal become a supervillain. This at least has the advantage of not actually needing to work as a status quo, since it's self-contained and unlikely to ever be followed up on by anyone besides Snyder and Capullo if they feel like it.
