The art for this comic was done by Michelle Wong, but when I tried to post this the following message came up "Adding this tag would exceed your maximum of 5000 tags. You will not be able to add new tags until you delete 1 existing tag." Sorry Wong...

Three months ago...

Now...

Afterwards Team Avatar meets with Wu. He wants them to come to Gaoling with him.

If Guan interferes in the election, other states could have cause to drop the electoral process.

Korra agrees to bring Kuriva along so she can order Guan to stand down.

The group leave by airship and arrive in Gaoling three days later.

Guan's forces have arrived.

Meanwhile Asami is keeping watch on Kuriva as she changes out of her prison clothes.
Looking at it I realize that the outfit is based on an unused Asami design from Book Four. Neat

Kuvira orders Guan's forces to stand down. They refuse.

Guan refuses her offer of a duel to settle the matter. When he calls her a coward, Kuvira attacks him

Guan plans to have Earth Empire officials elected throughout the country, to legitimize their power.

Meanwhile Guan discuses events with Dr Sheng. He belives that Kuriva has been corrupted by the Avatar. Sheng says that she should be able to "recalibrate" her. Sheng's process is also going well.

Oh yes and Bolin got a new job as Zhu Li's assistant. There wasn't space to include that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUt7oQ3HFKs (I think this sums up the entire comic's plot.)
"If a society until recently live in a monarchy who do you think are they going to elect as head of state? A proper democrat (Willhelm Marx), or an old warhero who'd rather see the emperor back on the throne (Paul Von Hindenburg). Needless to they elected Paul Von Hindenburg."

Though, part of me feel that the comic and writers of Korra seem to be "cheating" to side with protagonists though. I mean they can just have gullible villagers or maybe found it quite "skeptical" after having Kuvira's rule managing to bring some sense of satisfaction ot their lives, but I guess mind control needs to be done to get the readers to back a man-child monarch.

The community has had this problem with tagging for some time. I am unsure if it can be fixed. Maybe I'll remove most tags on my Modaozushi posts? They don't appear elsewhere anyways.
And, is anyone else bothered by the dark skinned characters being much darker skinned than in the anime? Korra and Wu here look as dark as Allura in Voltron, and Allura was a Black girl. I find it very inconsistent. In general, the colouring in this comic looks somewhat simplistic to me.

They just need to clear out tags that haven’t been used much. People shouldn’t add tags unless they know there’s going to be multiple entries though. If you’re posting a one shot and tagging an artist who hasn’t done much else it’s kind of a waste.

Redemption is a tricky subject.
To her credit, Kuvira did stand down, go "yeah, I was wrong" and is still doing so, which makes her better than 99% of dictators.
Yes, she did help reunite the Earth Kingdoms after it went to crap, yes, she helped modernise it (with the help of a Water Tribe inventor)... but she did also try to usurp the rightful (if utterly incompetent, by their own admission) heir to a king, invade and level a city, kill her own surrogate family, sent people to camps, threatened people with physical death into doing what she wanted, and just generally was a smug wad.
(And there is the principle of "if you hadn't done it, someone else would have.")

Though what is the bare minimum limit to be considered reformed after that? What do you have to do to be considered Not Evil after that? And had Guan and Evil Doctor Lady not been there, how would she have proven it? Not exactly a Work Release Program for tyrants...

Not to mention that scene with Suyin. Kuvira, you seized her city, imprisoned her kids and tried to murder her and her daughter repeatedly with a big gun. Kind of have to do a little more than go "I'm sorry" to be forgiven. It's the "I'm sorry you were offended" of attempted murder.
Just hoping this doesn't go with Kuvira heroically sacrificing her life in some way. That'd be a cheap cop-out...

(And the flashback scene of Kuvy throwing a tantrum... if the goal was to show her parents were awful, it's not the best way to accomplish it. Good thing the second instalment shows her parents really were awful.
Well, not "good"...)

Also, if this story doesn't end up with Bolin deciding to go into politics, I'd be surprised.
