Joking aside, it does seem like comic mysteries tend to overstay their welcome (Rulk and Jane Thor) or become outright punchlines (FACADE).

Hey, Samson occasionally manages to help people. That's better than anyone in DC, where every psychologist is either incompetent, evil, or both.

In fairness, most DC psychologists are associated with Arkham and that place is the poster child for a lot of unfortunate tropes related to prisons and mental institutions. I feel a character like Ashley Kafka wouldn't have survived a day there.

Samson probably is a pretty realistic take on things. Sometimes he helps (Quicksilver and the Hulk). Sometimes he makes things worse (also the Hulk). Sometimes he just flat-out misreads a person (most of X-Factor). Still, its jarring to have a superhero who is just okay at his day job when Matt Murdock and Jen Walters are great lawyers, Clark Kent is a great reporter, and countless superheroes are great scientists. Also his ethics in regard to the Hulk are just deplorable.


Where's Dr. Blink, Superhero Shrink when you need him?

I think the one Dani Moonstar brought to the X-Men's Utopia setup out west was supposed to be competent. Don't believe he was moonlighting as a superhero though, so he probably actually concentrated on the DSM and various mental health approaches rather than using big ray machines or costumed fights.
