I've always liked Lois a lot. This is a interesting idea for an AU, especially considering how many are predicated on a loss of agency for Lois and her death (Injustice immediately comes to mind). It's created good stories before, sometimes better than they have any right to be, but it's so often at her expense.
Lois has already been the level-headed cynic to Clark's idealist, and the whole "absolute power corrupts absolutely" works well for her, taking in to account her established character IMO
A lot of bad but intriguing bits more than others. In the non-scan pages, does Lois figure out that "Lex Jr" is really Lex in the clone body?
Off that, I do love when she says "He was Clark Kent" and Lex's beautiful "are you KIDDING ME?!" face. The idea his last thought is how Superman was right under his nose all along is priceless.
Luthor's death is a lot more satisfying in the full comic (guessing you hit the page limit and couldn't include it).
Lois confronts him about all of the damage that he and Lexcorp are causing and he begins the standard "Yes, I'm guilty of all of these crimes and more, but good luck proving it in a court of law" monologue that he's given Superman dozens of times, but instead of taking the loss and going home Lois responds by murdering him on the spot.
I'unno... with their short fuses, how long would it take before they try to kill one another over an argument, or because the other one can't stop comparing them to their dead lover?
I love how many people in that funeral crowd are familiar faces from 90s instead of generic faces. Bibbo, Prof Hamilton, the kid from the Christmas issue, ect. A lot of the ones I don't recognize are well-defined enough that I assume they're also supposed to be someone.
To be fair to Lois here, ending up with the Eradicator in your head usually doesn't lead to a well balanced mind. The bits before that don't quite work for me, but I can see how it's go this way.
A version of this where failure isn't the only option would be fascinating though.
Oh, sure. The Eradicator is one of those "Kal-El isn't acting like a true Kryptonian" characters. In fact, he was the first before it became a "thing."
Lois behaving this way might be a look at how Krypton "got its act together." Just with more mass murder. (Or less?)
I love the bit where Lois flat out tells Luthor that Clark Kent was super man.
Given the time period this would have been after the story where that computer told Lex that Clark Kent is Superman, and he didn't believe it because he couldn't conceive of a someone with that power living as a normal guy.
So its just a little extra fuck you before killing him.
