Is this meant to be early-in-career Batman? The way characters seem to be reacting to him, it's like they haven't known him for very long.

The way it's written so far, it looks like it's an Ultimate Universe kind of thing, so think of it like Ultimate Batman.

What happened between Gordon wanting to speak to Batman and Batman getting shot in the back?

They interviewed Eduardo Flamingo (the cannibal assassin from the second issue) and got him to start telling them who hired him, but then they got attacked and he got killed.

Seems like that's a problem that could be resolved with a bright red telephone. Just saying.

This really doesn't get called out often enough. If I was living in Gotham and I see the bat signal, I'd definitely be like, "Ah fuck, what is it now? I guess I'm staying in tonight AGAIN." Does GCPD have to issue a press release or send a tweet every time it's on clarifying to citizens that no no, there's no emergency, the Commish just wants to get Batman's opinion on something.
