Here's a question: Why did the writers of the Outlawed event include the whole sponsorship clause? Basically all of Marvel's teen heroes are second wave legacy heroes on good terms with their inspiration, so securing nominal sponsorship and then proceeding with business as usual should take like, two days and the filing of some paperwork. It's got the Civil War problem of applying common sense to a fundamentally nonsensical setting, but even moreso.
I dunno, I get that there's a level of buy-in involved, but this whole event just seems to sag under the weight of the Marvel Universe.
Yeah, Peter and Tony would sponsor Miles and Riri in a heartbeat. Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel have had their differences but I think this is one of those rare occasions where Carol does the right thing and helps Kamala. Heroes would probably be lining up to sponsor Power Pack (except for maybe Jack).
The Runaways wouldn't care. Adult heroes suck anyway.
I assume the sponsorship thing is mosly there so Frank and Val get to continue their normal lives.
I mean, does the sponsorship even need to be a one adult per teen thing? I could see a few heroes being willing to sponsor whole teams. Or heck, Tony could just take on all of them across the board, start up the Iron Man School for Exceptional Teens and laugh at the X-Men when they get pissed at him for stealing their schtick. Hey, given how long he's dealt with headquartering the Avengers he'd probably be better at keeping the school in one piece and all the kids alive than Xavier ever was.
Is Peter sponsoring Miles? (The Spider-Man, not the Jackel) How old is this Gwen, again? She has to be young enough to date Miles (the Spider-Man, not the Jackel) without is being creepy but old enough to pass as 616 Gwen in the Clone Conspiracy. Are we going to see a Spider-Gwen clone army? Who says Miles (the Jackel, not the Spider-Man) can only be in one universe at a time? How can I move to Gwen's universe? It seems like a more sensible place than ours or Peter's.
And most importantly....
How was Gwen able to transfer credits across universes?
Gwen is supposed to be 19. Miles is apparently 17, so the age difference doesn't really matter.
What's weird is that Gwen spent a year in prison, so I think she was 18 before that, but she was still in college. So maybe...she was a freshman, went to jail, and now has to start college over again?
I mean his deals with Peter and Miles are probably points of pride and I assume it's only a matter of time before he tries for Gwen but do you think he looks at Ben and Kaine and says, "nah, too easy"?
They want to reference current events without upsetting people.
Civil War, The Initiative, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, and Siege are about the Bush-era reaction to 9/11.
The Heroic Age is about the initial optimism of the Obama era followed by reminders that we still have secret prisons and a massive surveillance program (Standoff and Civil War 2)
Secret Empire is about Trump. (Fitting since the original was about Nixon)
The new event seems to be about the establishment trying to silence and vilify young people actively fighting for a better world.
I mean... this is just implicitly backdoor registration, right? How do you prove you're over twenty-one without revealing your secret identity? Especially given cases like Rage.
Well, there are ways to reasonably prove your age without going public with your ID. For example, they could have you reveal your ID to another hero who is over 21 and has a public ID (Sam Wilson, Carol Danvers, James Rhodes, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, the Fantastic Four, etc.) of your choosing and have them vouch for you. Whether or not this is allowed depends on is the people running CRADLE are sincere in their goals or if this is actually backdoor registration, or course.
