He remade himself with the cryogenic technology whose unexpected weaponization'd done that - the same dialed-up-behind-his-back tech that Batman and his newly recruited civilian support team had gotten an unknowing hint of.
His colleagues got something more, when he called them to the site of his beginning.
" How could this have happened? " one of them asked, surveying the cold and broken aftermath.
" I hope nobody was here. " said another.

" I'm here now. "
He chilled them to death, leaving them for Detective Gordon and others of Gotham's police to find.

The police went over what he'd done - as did Batman's operatives, in disguise among them.
(Gordon, not being able to place any of them, had a suspicion.)
" So. " said Batman to his team, later.
" What do we know so far? "
" They were working on some sort of cryogenic or cryonic process.
" Possible applications ranging from military medical to military. "

Their analysis turned to Fries.

" .. and we're going to be there to watch. "
That night, staking out the mobster Scotta, both the police and Batman's team found themselves surprised when Fries' boss Parke showed up to meet him.
Two of the latter, listening in via their third hidden friend's parabolic mic, were happened upon by police curious what they were doing there.
Their fourth jumped in.

(Amy, the one with the cryogenic opinions in the previous scene, is the one with the mic.)

Half an hour later, there was the clean-up.

(Victor went there to get Parke, and found others to get.)
