It is the hackneyed old trick that if you cannot make your protagonists look good, then you have to make everyone else look worse. It is basically an admission they are writing villain protagonists, but they don't want to actually admit they are doing it.
I think to make Saturnyne that bad they just have to write her in character. I can't recall a story I've seen her appear in where she wasn't threatening to blow up Earth 616 or some other parallel world because solving the problem some other way might require some effort.
I’m not too familiar with Saturnyne or Captain Britain lore, so perhaps. Still, tough competition when you’re going up against “--A--“pocalypse, who more likely than not wants to conquer or destroy the Starkight Citadel for either mutantdom or himself.
I'm a little confused, is this supposed to be Opal-Luna Saturnyne running that school?
Because if she is, that's a spectacular fall in power levels. The Ominversal Majestrix can obliterate entire universes's with the touch of a button. (And also, by definition, you can only be the Omniversal Majextrix if you have the sort of mindset which is prepared to push that button without a second thought if the need arises. EG an absolute psychopath)
maybe considering they weren't able to do anything to stop the destruction of all those Earths they ended up depowered in the new multiversal configuration. I mean if she can obliterate an entire universe she should have been able to stop the problem of the incursions by just blowing up any Earth that was encroaching.
That Secret Wars Thor miniseries showcased Thors across the multiverse, most of whom weren’t the Odinson. Anyone can be Captain Britain if you dig deep enough into the multiverse.
Plus, and correct me if I’m wrong, I think there actually WAS a Jubilee/Captain Britain (or one of current Excalibur anyway) once.
IIRC The Thor Corps had the out of being "Worthy" (which is a generic matter of personal integrity, valour etc.), because it was made up of people who carried Mjolnirs, rather than being the Odinson.
The Captain Britain Corps have all been linked to the realm of Britain, though in some cases Britains where history was different, so we have one's from worlds where the French Conquered England, or the Axis won WWII (Hauptmann Englande from the horribly creepy Excalibur analogue Lightning Squad), but I think the intent was they were all born in some part of Britain. None of these characters are.
(And it's got nothing to do with me being tired of Americans co-opting the few British heroes we have.)
Don't recall seeing a Jubilee Captain Britain before, but who knows...
I could have sworn I saw a Jubilee Captain Britain before this one, but I can’t find that anywhere on the internet so I can only conclude I must have made her up. My apologies for spreading misinformation.
(Just got around to this issue) Apparently, Tini Howard is aware of this too, as the Krakoan on the "next" page translates as "They're not even British"
This was one of two X-titles in the new era that I just didn't dig and nothing I've seen since has made me think that I was wrong in that assessment. It's not bad, I just really don't like any of it. In part because it's taking the Excalibur name, but nothing about the character of that series is here. I don't dislike the characters here, but the story is just...meh. It's created a completely unnecessary conflict and keeps escalating it and I just can't raise myself to care about any of it. It started from a kind of nonsensical conceit and then doesn't work for me that well. It's not that magic and the X-Men don't mix, this just...I don't know, it feels totally off to me. Hope others are enjoying it.
