Oh god, Annie. That was one of the most depressing moments in a show I watched as a kid. Just... just completely depressing and heartbreaking. :(

Yeah, and honestly, Clayface taking her form to try and trick Robin is a pretty rotten thing to do.

Like, there's no dirtier trick in the shapeshifter playbook than the whole "assuming the form of a dead loved one" bit, especially when you killed the loved one.

Anyway I think most people have at least considered the fanfic where s he breaks free from Clayface and becomes her own person, I know I'm planning it eventually.

Funny enough, I actually wrote a fanfic a couple of years ago where Robin confronted Clayface at Arkham about Annie. It didn't involve her coming back, but it was more about Tim getting some sort of closure and being more emotionally able to take down Clayface the next time they fought.

Tho the idea of brining back Annie somehow...that sounds great!

Yeah, the idea I have is that Annie manages to break free from Clayface, then Bruce Wayne immediately sweeps in, gets Doctors and lawyers that prove she's a legally distinct being from Clayface, and get he full citizenship, and a restraining order against Hagen.

Hagen, just having had Annie rip her way out of his body, has officially decided that going after her is more trouble than its worth, and leaves her be.

The rest of the story is Annie trying to have a normal life, and dealing with the trauma of having been imprisoned in Clayface all these years. At one point Hagen reforms and gets back into acting (Since active nonhuman heroes like the Justice League have made heteronormative superhumans more acceptable), and Annie actually gets really resentful and in a twist starts stalking Hagen and angrily confronting him because she has a lot of toxic feelings and is unsure how to deal with them.

Seeing Deathstroke in the DCAU is weird because one can assume he's still Slade from Teen Titans at this point.
