These Nazis are servants of the Russian government, one of the single most evil and repulsive regimes on earth right up there with North Korea, Brazil, Poland and America when it comes to how utterly vile and monstrous the sick animals in charge of the country truly are

Anyone who serves the Russian government deserves what Emma Frost did to these filthy fascist trash and worse

This scene made me love Emma Frost and the Marauders as a whole even more than I already did

This is the kind of heroism I've wanted to see the X-men doing for years and I'm glad to see them finally doing things right and dealing with the fascist human garbage the way they deserve to be treated

That's not especially new. Before Claremont gave him some morals, Charles used to remove memories every now and then. And IIRC he brainwashed a terrorist into a humanist, during Morrison's run.

It would be nice if they used the mutants and the telepaths to readress the same ethical issues as in Squadron Supreme, with the behavior modification device.
What if criminals with life sentence were offered amnesty if they accepted to be brainwashed the same way those russian soldiers were?

In the Marvel Universe, where aliens are a dime a dozen and not a one of them probes anyone.
It's a well known fact that aliens abduct humans to give them superpowers, put them in a collection, turn them into mutilated cyborg-zombie soldiers, raise them as pirates, eat them, or for the purposes of sex.
But not probing.
These guys are gonna see through the holes in that after about five minutes.

"So, what did these aliens look like?"
"... uh... grey... ish?"
"Did they look like any of the aliens on this chart?"
"No."
"Hmm. Well, you've probably just had your memory wiped by a particularly lazy telepath. It happens. Far more often than being abducted by an alien, actually."

It could always be a new alien race, but those usually introduce themselves by destroying one of the major empires (Kree, Shiar, Badoon, etc) in order to establish threat levels first.

Considering the usual response to state sponsored actors are bombs, bullets, and indefinite detainment this seems like a restrained response.

For context, a long-running subplot in Marauders has been the Russian government keeping mutants in containment camps until they could be shipped to gulags, where they were either tortured into working as living weapons for the government, or killed.

A big part of this was the experimental weaponry the Russians were developing, for use in lethal attacks on mutants, which the Marauders went in to neutralise.

As far as I'm concerned, Emma showed remarkable restraint.

I'm reminded of what Emma did to Kimura when she caught her getting ready to torture Laura -- a girl she intensely disliked at first and didn't want involved with her students at the school at all.

This was mild in comparison.

Yeahhhh. In both those cases, my mind just goes straight to the chorus of “They had it coming.” If you’re actively hurting/torturing children due to the way they were born, you don’t get to cry about the payback.

I've never understood the whole "tortured into working as living weapons for the government". I mean most governments don't generally torture you to make you join the army. They recruit or draft you.

Wouldn't it make much more sense for the gov't in question just to offer a boatload of money and a commission in the military if they wanted the guy to be in the army?

Logically? Probably.
But in this case, the writing is drawing on real world precedent so it’s not exactly unheard of.

I know there have been instances of brainwashing and threats in the real world, esp in the case of child soldiers being forced into militias and insurgent groups.
Is that the real world precedent you're referring to? I'm not reading the book so I'm not tuned into all the little details.

And if the truth gets out – when the truth gets out – she’s just gift wrapped them a bullet in their war against mutantkind.

A war that they are already waging against mutants— and killing mutants in. Their guns are already loaded, cocked, and fired. The idea that mutantkind should be a Model Minority to keep from giving them bullets feels a bit unreasonable.

The people waging war against mutantkind are the last who would want the truth of this particular incident to get out, because no matter how bad 'mind-wiped an entire freighter crew' might look, "multinational covert operation shipping captive mutants to concentration camps for brainwashing purposes" is several orders of magnitude worse.

Aggravated piracy versus crimes against humanity. That'll play well in the media.
