Sorry this took so long to get to (presuming anyone even remembers or cares about the last post, anyway), I was generally preoccupied by exams and whatnot. I’ll try to be more consistent with these in the future.

When we last left off, the evil terrorist organisation known as Black Ghost began work on their latest diabolical plot, kidnapping various miscreants from around the world and using them as test subjects to perfect their cyborg technology. They have eight so far, and have set their sights on a potential ninth.

Trigger warning for racism, both invoked and accidental. Please remember to read from right to left.

We begin somewhere in Japan...

Joe wakes up on an operating table, but he’s quickly put back to sleep. He begins to hear a voice calling to him in his dreams.

Outside, Joe is chased by a tank. He’s somehow able to outrun the thing at an impressive speed before tricking that into driving off a cliff.

Unbeknownst to the team, however, one of the scientists has regained consciousness and sets off to warn everyone about their betrayal.

001 guides 009 through how to pilot the jet, and intense dogfight ensues between the Cyborgs and Black Ghost ensues.

With everyone safely out of harm’s way for the time being, the Cyborgs decide to hunt for food, letting 009 witness everyone’s powers and abilities up close. However, a suspicious dolphin catches the ruckus going on in the caves and swims off to parts unknown...

Thanks to her enhanced senses, 003 is able to determine that Black Ghost has found out where they are, and is closing in on their location as they speak...

...and I think that’s probably enough for now. Thanks for clicking, and please stay safe! Next time, the Cyborgs must hold out against the never ending tide of Black Ghost’s army...

Loves me some Cyborg 009.
You can definitely see the influence that Ishinomori picked up from Osamu Tezuka in his art style and layouts. That this was the early 1960s makes the dynamic layouts that more exciting, IMHO, especially compared to comics in the US, where Jack Kirby was just starting to make his style of dynamism known. It's worth noting that while the illustrative style for some of the characters are certainly stereotypes, in general they aren't written as such, that I can recall.

There's a reason that series keeps getting rebooted or reintroduced every few years...because it's such a solid idea, well executed, from one of the masters of the form. Ishinomori's track record is pretty astounding in hindsight: Cyborg 009, Genma Wars, Kamen Rider and the Super Sentai series...any one would solidify his name, but his extensive record is pretty amazing.

This reply is very late because my community membership hadn't been approved, but thank you for this! I've been curious about this series for decades but never really had the time or resources to jump in.
