The next installment in the Bradbury centennial is 'The Black Ferris'. This is a significant Bradbury story in that it served as a dry run for the novel 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'.
This adaptation was published in The Haunt of Fear #18.

Mr. Cooger is disguising himself as an orphan to take advantage of an old widow who lost her son. His plan is to find her money and steal it (the idea being that they will be looking for the boy instead of his adult self). Peter and Henry try to warn the widow but she doesn't believe them.

That night the boys find Cooger leaving the house with the widow's money and going back to the carnival. The two realize they need to catch him before he can get on the ferris wheel or otherwise they won't be able to prove anything.
