For those with a hankering for a simpler Batman

Tired of the thirtieth fourth "GREATEST MOST IMPACTFUL BATMAN STORY EVER TOLD" event in a row?

Or the umpteenth "THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING YOU EVER KNEW ABOUT THE JOKER/TWO FACE/RIDDLER!! (delete as applicable)"?

Well, I'm sure those stories have their place and if they're your jam, more power to you, but as an old fart, I do kind of miss more straightforward Batman as heroic protector of Gotham, accompanied by his kid sidekick Robin, the Boy Wonder.

So I found that the faux newspaper strips of Jacob Edgar, and coloured by Jason Simmons REALLY hit the spot

As can a couple of Superman strips

He also does a lovely Catwoman, this piece is called “Busted”



And his "Hungry, Hungry Robin" series is adorable.



(After seeing these, I have a headcanon that Gordon keeps small bowls of snacks on top of the filing cabinets in his office and if anyone asks why, he just says they're "bird food")



(Alfred made that lunchbox for him and no one is convincing me otherwise)

My favourite is the one ending with "I already told Lois." Batman's and Superman's expressions are both golden.

Batman is irresponsible, for allowing an untrained minor to drive his rocket car through the city.

He says taking these cute comics far too seriously.
