Sort of seems like Peter should have told Franklin about being an badass morphing cyborg sooner. It's not like it's the weirdest thing to ever happen to him. The kid has created universes, been trapped in Hell, and watched most of his family die and come back to life at least twice. Franklin's real superpower is being superhumanly well-adjusted.
Also, funny how the "deliberately bring your enemies into the vulnerable heart of your stronghold" strategy always seems to backfire.
Eh, Peter has been depicted throughout this series as basically having maxed out his emotional bandwidth. He didn't know what happened to MJ for five years, he's watched most of his allies die, and they mention in the first issue that in a zombie apocalypse, his spider-sense quickly became a liability because he's basically always in danger. They're also in a situation where the Phalanx is about an inch at any given time from hauling off and infecting the entirety of Earth's biosphere. I can just about buy that Peter's compromised enough to think that Franklin doesn't need the extra grief.
I'm just pleasantly surprised that Spider-Man survived an AU for once.
