X-Force 14... well, I DID ask I suppose

A couple of days ago I made a post expressing surprise at the number of events taking place as part of the X of Swords "contests" given how quickly the scores had changed...





I apologise to those who were hoping to have a more coherent post from this issue, which would not normally be on my pull list, but the sheer batshit craziness has to be seen to be believed as we see a great deal many more contests.

Some ARE actual fights, Magik has a rematch with Pogg-ur-Pogg which explains something rather surprising about her opponent, Captain Avalon has a footrace with Redroot (Arakko speaker), through Mad Jim Jaspers Twisted Market and Storm has ANOTHER dance with Death, but this time with swords, but it's the one's inbetween (and these are by no means all of them) that.







I mean, Cypher doing Staying Alive versus Bei the Blood Moon doing Rhe Robot.... apparently Arakko won that one , but Doug was felt to have done surprisingly well. (I smell a fix in that one)

Asking a blind person to be part of the jigsaw team though?

And yet... the fashion show? Wow!

This next one may have the line of the year...



I'm not going to say how that one ends... but you can probably guess.

So yup, this is one to just lie back and let wash over you....

I honestly love this event

I know a lot of people were hoping it would be more straight forward action and that's fair enough but I love that inbetween the sword fights and battles we've got stuff like this

Yeah, I'm loving each and every issue of it! I'll wait patiently to buy a printed version. Also, I'm pretty sure a certain icon of Scans_Daily is utterly happy with the abundance of a certain Bambi so far. ;)

And then in the last published chapter this week, the score is evened 19 to 19 for basically no reason. This story is fun, but I hope nobody expected a real tournament arc out of it.

Considering how Marvel has done tournaments before, such as in one of the "Contests of Champions" where Black Widow beat the entirety of X-Force (the version with Cannonball, Thunderbird, Siren etc) this is to be expected.

Gorgon took a lot of points for Krakoa when fighting the White Sword. Easily the Krakoa MVP.

I was doubtful of this at the start, but I do feel I am warming to it. The new characters are interesting, have a touch of originality and well designed.

I also enjoy how Saturnynes contest has this fickle Fey feel to it. It is much more interesting than just swordfighting to the death.

If they want to really change some characters that just don't work, they can also have them killed here and borught back... different.

I wonder what it means that Dougs wifes Sword is named Seducer, given that he married its wielder?

Since the only constructive outcome of this event was Saturnyne introducing a potentially destabilizing element to the life of the Voice of Krakoa, I have to assume that was her goal all along.

I don't know if Bei is in on it; I would assume not since in that case her body language might give the game away. But Saturnyne likes to play long games.
