So are we actually meant to like or care about John Walker, Dipshit Ranger here?

Because I'm just hoping that Kate hurls him into the engine of a plane. I mean I haven't read the whole comic because literally no amount of money would make me read twenty plus pages of comic about John Walker, a character who is basically the embodiment of everything I utterly despise, but just going from these scans I already like his sister with the cute hairdo more than I've ever liked him or ever will like him

Also everything she says about the worthless oxygen thieving garbage in the above scans is true. And she's absolutely right to hate "people" like them

and every word out of Walker's slack jawed mouth here just makes me utterly despise USAgent even more than I did before this series began

I kind of liked him when he was the warden at Raft. Other than that... well I guess it's always nice to see him get his comeuppance.

I don't get the creative impetus behind this. Priest is trying to use Walker to sympathetically represent the conservative red-blooded American, a kind of person that apparently a. exist b. I'm supposed to admire?

But he sounds like a cartoon parody version of that. They make a good peach cobbler? Seriously? Why don't you have him yell about how he doesn't need our fancy book larbin' while you're at it?

I mean honestly expecting me to have sympathy/empathy for the kind of bigoted brainless scum that are conservatives is a losing battle right from the word go because I don't even view them as being human

Put it this way: Priest had more success making me feel empathy for Slade Wilson in his run on Deathstroke than he will ever have at making me feel even the tiniest shred of compassion, sympathy or empathy for John Walker

I mean yes, Slade Wilson is a mass murdering cold blooded assassin...but at least I'm pretty sure he didn't vote for Trump. So he's still a tiny bit better than conservatives

OTOH, Slade is probably one of those guys that chose not to vote, so it's not as if you still shouldn't feel angry at him for similar reasons.

They have good peach cobbler in the cities too, Walker. We know what rural folk are like because they come here, and we go there. Sometimes they're tourists, sometimes they're fleeing the persecution of families or neighbors, sometimes they open a pie shop. The social isolation that defines the Trump voter is self-imposed and asymmetric.

Also, I am very tired of white people thinking they own "small towns" and "the countryside," and I wish I was confident that Priest is too.

How did both John and Kate manage to pivot away from "will today's maguffin kill everybody in this community" to Political Argument #4137? I mean, OK, John thinks he's solved the problem and he's an idiot, so that's in character. Kate doesn't think the problem is solved, so why isn't she fixated on that instead of family therapy? This makes her look extra-stupid and evil.

Also, having read the issue; Priests idea of rural conservative Americana is lack as shit? In this issue the old asian dude wakes up being menaced by a bunch of kids messing around with a gun. They get run off by some lady who condescends to him that it isn't a problem because they leave guns lying around all the time and it's okay because it wasn't loaded.

Like, what the fuck? Literally every single responsible gun owner I've ever read or heard has stressed that you don't fuck around with, or leave weapons lying around, unloaded or not.

Maybe there are parts of the country where kids can in fact wander around playing with unloaded guns and not get merked by some fucking cop. But that's a pretty fucking privileged position.

Also, it was the asian dude's gun and they replaced his sights as act like he should thank them for mucking around with his personal property.

I'm... not sure I get the point about Dave Chappelle? The reason people complained about him is that they thought no one SHOULD go to his shows and hear his controversial statements; they were actively advising people not to go and give him their hard earned money. They weren't going to the shows to complain because they weren't going to the shows AT ALL.

As for USAgent, wouldn't it be better to show him as a Lincoln Project guy? Someone who believes that the party he supports is being subverted and deceived from within and must be reclaimed by actually righteous people?
