Batman/Catwoman #1 - "Silent Night"

It's almost like I feel I never got to do something as elevated as Vision or Mister Miracle with Batman. Because it was double-shipped and because we had the artists who had to ship monthly and just because we all had regular life, it's a book that had to be a kind of sprint/marathon. And I'm super proud of it. But we never got to go super deep like I did with those 12 issues minis. And then now I get to sort of do that with Clay on Bat/Cat. We get to do, like I said, a kind of Dark Knight Returns standalone thing. And those are the things I loved writing. -- Tom King

Kate Kane is the only character with the name "Batwoman" who I consider to be worthy of the name and the only one who I have ever cared about. And the only reason I would ever accept any character replacing Kate as Batwoman for any reason would be if she was also an out and proud lesbian

Date: 2020-12-30 10:40 am (UTC)I don't remotely care about relationships between men and women in fiction and find them either utterly tedious or else just plain nauseating but stories about lesbian characters and relationships are actually interesting and worth reading for me.
So while I have no interest or desire in reading about a man and a woman together the fact that there's a lesbian character in the series who will hopefully have a girlfriend in it means that I might actually find this series interesting to read
I base all my decisions on what I read/watch based on whether there's either canon queer women in said story or ones who I can easily ship together. I'm not one of those people who says ridiculous nonsense like "Sexuality shouldn't matter". I am queer. I want stories about people like me. That is the most important thing to me
And unfortunately there are hardly any lesbian characters in the Bat-books, hence why I rarely bother to buy them unless Batwoman, Maggie Sawyer or Renee Montoya are appearing in their pages. So I'm glad that I can add Helena Wayne to the list and she won't just be some utterly boring heterosexual woman but instead actually be a character who it'll be worth my time and money to read about
