Eternals seems to have to be an ensemble piece. Each of the characters are by their nature archetypal, so they need each other to bounce off of.
I do like where this is going. It's the story of a society that lost it's purpose, of characters who are unchanging. But with their original purpose gone they have to find a new one, their society has to reinvent itself. Which you know, since these character's personalities are well... Eternal... is difficult.
If memory serves, only A'Lars/Mentor among the Titanian Eternals was actually rendered immortal and cosmic-powered the same way as the Eternals on Earth were. The others split off and founded their colony before that happened.
Or not. I remembered it being the way I wrote in the first series, but it seems wikis contradict my memory. So, either I remembered it wrong, or it's one of the several retcons. Eternals are pretty even with Ghost Rider on that front.
I mean I can;t really say I blame them for not wanting the guy who is mainly known for repeated omnicide out of a desire to bone (HAHAHA) a magical skeleton to hang out with them here
Ikaris really did himself proud, going rounds with Thanos and not only surviving but drawing blood! I had no idea he was that powerful, it is comparable to Black Bolt.
Unless... it is often assumed that Thanos powers himself up every time he gets a cosmic cube or infinity gauntlet or whatever. The resurrection machine don't, I expect, update Eternals. So this could be a Thanos reset to base stats. Still a monster but not one that throws Thor and Hulk around.
And on Thanos... I am really liking having him interact with the Earth Eternal for once, and the acknowledgment tht he'll be resurrected as well. But I do wish they would stop trying to retcon his background all the time.
